Tips & Tricks to Comping and How To Get Started!

. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 .
Every day there are hundreds of competitions posted online. Companies are literally giving stuff away to lucky winners! Comping (Competitions + Computers) is so popular due to the ease of entering and how good some of the prizes can be! Some people have won thousands of pounds and even holidays.

Comping is legitimate, Just make sure the companies you're entering with are safe!

You should never use comping as your sole source of income, due to its unpredictability on if you're going to win or not! Nevertheless it is fun, and exciting if you do win!

Here are some steps you should take before getting started with comping;

  1. Create a separate email address - Unless you realllyy like spam, make yourself a new email. You'll need to give the companies hosting the competitions your email, opening yourself up to lots of lovely newsletters and spam! Pick a discreet email, not one that makes it obvious that you're comping.
  2. Set up email filters - On your brand new email account, set yourself a few email filters. This will  help sort out the spam from the "Congratulations, you've won!" emails. You'll need to make yourself  a new folder on your email account (I call mine 'winning emails') and your filter will send any emails containing those words into that folder.
    I still recommend skimming your main inbox for any that the filter didn't manage to catch.
  3. Set up a new Twitter account - If you use Twitter regularly this will be handy, you don't want to spam your main account followers with competition entries.
  4. Use a Form Filler - Form fillers will save you a lot of time. They will automatically put your information into the website for you, allowing you to enter faster. Just makes sure all information is correct before you submit. I like to use Roboform.
  5. Don't pay to enter - Due to the unpredictability of winning competitions, I don't recommend paying to enter as you'll nearly always lose out! There are plenty of free ones to be getting on with.
  6. Stay positive! - Don't go into comping expecting to win every time. The chances of you winning are slim, but it'll be a nice surprise when you do. Stick at it and hopefully you'll be rewarded.

I try and enter around 20 competitions a week, I feel as though this is a good place to start. The great thing about comping is you can do as many or little as you'd like. Remember - you've got to be in it to win it!!

My favourite website to find competitions is Money Saving Expert. It's a safe website which I trust, and many contests are posted each day.

Have you ever had any big wins from comping?
